About Ying

Ying (Ingrid) Wang is a post-doctoral research fellow at the Centre for Arts and Social Transformation, the University of Auckland. Her research interests include arts-based research in arts therapy, education, wellbeing and social transformation. Her teaching background includes lecturing in design and research supervision for arts therapy. She also has research experience in the public mental health sector and has been involved in a number of projects focusing on Asian communities' mental health in New Zealand. Ying also practices as a registered arts therapist specialising in displacement trauma, sexual trauma, depression, anxiety and other mental health issues. She is passionate about the power of creativity in both clinical practice and academic research.

Passions

Ying enjoys playing Guqin and sports like biking and hiking. Her artistic practice includes pottery, poetry, photography, and painting, and she also enjoys gardening and cooking.
